Water is part of the family’s travel and training life, so conditions, access, temperature, supervision and realistic capability belong in the plan instead of being treated as scenery.
Water punishes sloppy assumptions faster than most terrain.
Competitive swimming
Both boys swim competitively with Chico AquaJets. Krista serves as the team’s Board Secretary, supporting the organization around the coaches, athletes, meets, volunteers, records, and families.
Public means public.
Travel resources identify municipal pools, aquatic centers, recreation programs, lifeguarded beaches, open-water sites, day passes, fees, seasons, water temperature, water quality, parking, and accessibility.
Hotel pools do not make the list unless the public can actually use them. A photograph of inaccessible water is not a resource.
Open water
Open-water notes should include conditions, entry, exits, currents, temperature, supervision, boat traffic, water quality, and official warnings. Family enthusiasm is not a substitute for local knowledge.
