Folklórico survives the old-fashioned way: somebody teaches it, a child practices it, a family gets them to rehearsal, and eventually the whole thing lands onstage. Rosas de María gives that work a home in Chico—and gives young dancers a real path from the first uncertain step to public performance.
Tradition should never be limited by circumstance.
Today, 1 in 5 Rosas de María dancers receives a full scholarship. A family’s budget should not decide whether a child gets to learn, rehearse, perform, and belong.

Youth arts · cultural history · live performance
A performing-arts path that ends on a real stage.
Rosas de María is a youth performing-arts organization in Chico centered on ballet folklórico and Mexican folk dance. Children and teens learn choreography, musicality, costume care, stage presence, teamwork, and the cultural history carried by the dances they perform.
The arts education is not separated from the performance. Rehearsal leads toward community festivals, civic programs, cultural celebrations, parades, school events, and other public stages where young dancers learn what it means to prepare, perform, recover, and return to rehearsal.
Families come for dance, music, culture and performance. The program gives young people a place to learn the history carried by the dances and then put that work on stage.

Folklórico is learned in rehearsal, corrected in detail, worn in costume, heard in music, shared with family, and carried onto the stage.
Every dancer brings hope, effort, and courage to that work. Rosas de María gives those dancers a place to build skill, confidence, cultural knowledge, discipline, friendship, and stage experience.

The organization is not formed for private gain. Its assets and activities are dedicated to charitable and educational purposes.

Rosas de María is a federally recognized charitable nonprofit. Contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Rehearsals and performances depend on governance, finances, communication, costumes, transportation, scheduling, and the quiet work nobody photographs. The administrative work matters because the dancers need the rest of the organization to function.
