Leadership

Clear titles establish responsibility. They do not move the dancers out of the center.

Leadership in service to the program

The officers and co-founders are responsible for governance, artistic and operational direction, finances, records, communication, participation, events, continuity, and the conditions that allow dancers to do their work.

Board responsibility remains with the Board

The bylaws place management and corporate powers under the direction of the Board of Directors, even when day-to-day responsibilities are delegated. Standing Finance and Operations committees support that oversight.

Officer duties

The President supervises corporate affairs subject to Board control. The Secretary maintains bylaws, minutes, notices, and corporate records. The Treasurer is responsible for financial records, reporting, receipts, disbursements, and the financial condition of the organization. The Executive Director carries the program’s executive and operational work.

The Stone boys

Both boys participate in Rosas de María. Their parents’ board service supports a program in which the boys are also students and performers.

Family leadership

The program is carried by people who also carry the costumes, paperwork, schedules, and children.

Rosas de María is rooted in family participation and nonprofit service. Krista serves as Board Secretary and co-founder. Randall serves as Treasurer and co-founder. Their boys participate in the program.

The photograph shows the unceremonious side of leadership: being present, wearing the program shirt, and doing the work around the dancers.
