Practice before pressure

Training

Equipment is not a skill, and a plan nobody has practiced is mostly literature.

Communication

GMRS radio checks, clear speech, call signs, channel changes, APRS awareness, message handling, and rendezvous.

Movement

Swimming, biking, skating, running, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, EUC safety, and route awareness.

Water

Competitive swimming, open-water judgment, whitewater context, small-boat sailing, weather, navigation, and life-jacket discipline.

Winter

Layers, shelter, cold batteries, maps, daylight, food, hydration, communication, and turnaround decisions.

Community service

Virtues discussions, amateur radio, event support, Shalom, cultural organizations, and seeing service as a practiced skill.

Continuity

Charging, documents, first aid, evacuation awareness, route changes, meeting points, and simple family exercises.

Training remains age-appropriate and calm. The objective is familiarity, judgment, and useful action, not fear.
