K6RCS · License study

Practice the actual pool.

Technician, General and Amateur Extra practice exams built from the current NCVEC public-domain question pools, including the official diagram questions. No invented questions, no mystery answer key, no educational séance.

ARRL instruction · no teaching fee

The practice engine is free. So is the instruction.

I am an ARRL instructor and provide amateur-radio licensing instruction without a teaching fee. The point is to help people understand the material, pass the appropriate exam, and become capable operators rather than merely memorize answer letters.

If getting to a class or student requires travel, I may ask only for the actual transportation or travel costs involved. There is no charge for the instruction itself.

What “free” means here

No tuition, hourly teaching fee, course fee, or quiz fee from K6RCS. If travel is necessary, actual travel or transportation cost may be passed through or reimbursed.

Interactive practice

Pick a class. Make yourself commit.

Quick Study reveals the answer after each committed response. Full Practice Exam withholds the key until the exam is finished. Progress and missed-question review stay in this browser; nothing needs an account or leaves the device.

Controlling material

The source files are right here.

The NCVEC Question Pool Committee releases these pools into the public domain. The copies below are the errata-current files used to build this practice engine. If a future erratum changes a question, the source wins and the local bank should be rebuilt.

Study note. This is a practice tool, not an examination session and not an FCC or NCVEC service. Question wording, choices and answer keys are preserved from the supplied official pools. The site adds only selection, scoring and local review behavior.

How to use it

Do not memorize the letter.

Quick Study is deliberately immediate: choose an answer, commit, then see the official keyed choice and rule citation when one is supplied in the pool. Full Practice Exam is less forgiving and more useful near test day because it keeps the answer key hidden until the end.

Use subelement study when a score tells you exactly where the holes are. Missed-question review is stored locally in the browser, so the machine can remember your weak spots without creating yet another account for humanity to forget the password to.

What this engine does

  • Uses only active, keyed questions from the current supplied pools.
  • Excludes questions marked deleted or withdrawn.
  • Displays official diagrams when a question calls for one.
  • Builds full exams by selecting one question from each published question group.
  • Scores the attempt and reports missed question IDs for targeted review.
