Portable hotspot · physical-radio gateway · cross-mode
openSPOT4 Pro
The openSPOT4 Pro, CQutie, is a bridge between the FT-5DR and several digital networks. Profiles are kept separate by purpose so a working route can be reproduced rather than rediscovered by trial and error.
CQutie is a bridge, not a black box.
The primary radio-side role
The openSPOT4 Pro is the physical-radio hotspot interface for the Yaesu FT-5DR and C4FM. I do not own or intend to add a dedicated DMR radio; DMR is used through cross-mode when it serves the operating goal.
Validated radio-side settings
| Hotspot frequency | 433.775 MHz |
|---|---|
| Deviation | C4FM Half Deviation |
| Cross-mode route | ID 9 where configured |
| Unlink behavior | Unlink talkgroup or reflector on cross-mode DTMF call |
Keep embedded data deliberate.
Settings affecting in-band GPS and APRS must be reviewed carefully because blocking in-band data can also block the FT-5DR position information intended for the network. The preferred public APRS identity remains K6RCS-7 rather than a generic digital-mode suffix.
Open the interface without publishing the keys to the cabinet.
SharkRF Link is the preferred public entry point for opening the openSPOT4 web interface when the browser device and hotspot are on the same network. The device UID belongs in your browser, not on this website; the same goes for passwords, API keys, hotspot security values and local management addresses.
If ordinary name discovery fails, the USB serial console remains a recovery and troubleshooting path for network settings and diagnostics. That is useful operationally and blessedly uninteresting to random strangers on the internet.
