Family history · April 2018
Karden was born at Enloe on April 15, 2018: the date Americans ordinarily think of as individual Tax Day. The actual federal filing deadline that year moved to April 17 because April 15 fell on a Sunday and April 16 was the District of Columbia’s Emancipation Day holiday, but that technicality has never improved the family joke.
Family recollection places our friend Marybeth with Krista at Enloe before the birth, the two of them dancing around the delivery room trying to get labor moving and Krista’s water to break. A photograph of the scene belongs to the family archive; its original file and exact metadata are being recovered before it is placed publicly.
There is an unfortunate hereditary tax-calendar problem here. Randall’s own birthday falls on May 15, the traditional Form 990 filing date for calendar-year tax-exempt organizations. That came long before he became an Enrolled Agent, co-founded nonprofit organizations, or joined their boards of directors. Nobody planned this well enough to deserve credit.
